Home Projects Wiki
Table of Contents
IntroductionThis page will briefly describe the main sections of trixboxtools.co.uk. There is a fair amount of functionality and the goal is to tie everything together so that it behaves as one application where various asterisk projects can be hosted, documented, analysed and discussed. HomepageThe home page contains recent news and is the gateway to the rest of the site. At the top of the page is the menu bar. This will link you to all the major areas :
The ForumThe forum is the place to go to ask questions and contact project members. You can also search previous conversations to find the information you want. WikiThe Wiki is where you can find documentation on the projects hosted on the site. You can also find all sorts of other information created at the discretion of the TrixBoxTools members. You can add to pages already created and create your own pages. It is a great way to build up a body of knowledge from anyone interested in a particular topic. Bugtracker (Flyspray)The bugtracker will be used to help Project Leaders and Project Developers track issues, plan new features and document their ever changing project. FAQ SectionFrequently asked questions. This section is dedicated to questions and answers that come up over and over again. It makes it easy to go and check up on an issue to see if it has been resolved before. It also takes the pressure off the devs so they can focus on outstanding issues. FAQ‘s are also a good method of bringing yourself up to speed on a new topic by finding out all the things that can trip you up while you are learning. DownloadsThe downloads Section is divided into two parts. The conventional http section where you can just click on a file and download it. This is good for small to medium sized downloads. The second section is the bittorrent section. Here you can download a torrent file and use a bittorrent client to get that file. It is an efficient method of getting very large files out to thousands of people in the shortest time possible without the site having to have massive ammounts of bandwidth. NewsfeedsVarious news feeds from the Linux and trixbox world will be accessible here. A great place to get a bead on what is current. BookmarksThis is a categorised list of links. If you are looking for information or a product it should be much easier to find by drilling down through the categories. All the areas are open for the community to add their contributions. The guideline is that it should be linked to VoIP, asterisk and/or anything related.DokuWikiThis wiki uses the DokuWiki syntax. DokuWiki is a standards compliant, simple to use Wiki, mainly aimed at creating documentation of any kind. It is targeted at developer teams, workgroups and small companies. It has a simple but powerful syntax which makes sure the data files remain readable outside the Wiki and eases the creation of structured texts. All data is stored in plain text files – no database is required although this may be desired in the future. Try it!Although writing Wiki documents can seem strange at first it is easy to get used to once you have tried a couple of times. DokuWiki provides buttons which insert common wiki codes in your text which makes writing wiki pages much easier. Well formatted documentation can be pushed out very quickly. Be sure to have a look at the demo and then have a go on our playground.
